In Großbritannien hat ein Mann seiner Frau bei der Geburt geholfen, nachdem er sich mit ein paar Youtube Videos das Handwerkszeug angeeignet hat. So las es sich zumindest im Spiegel Online Netzticker, bezugnehmend auf einen Online-Artikel aus dem New Zealand Herald.
Nachdem ich gelesen hatte, dass das Ganze in Großbritannien passiert ist, wunderte ich mich, dass hier eine neuseeländische Zeitung bei einem britischen Ereignis zitiert wird. Mit dem Umweg über einen ninemsn aus Australien findet sich der vermutliche Original-Artikel im Telegraph. Dort klingt es plötzlich weniger dramatisch, vor allem hat - trotz der Schlagzeile - Youtube wohl nur eine kleine Rolle gespielt.
Im New Zealand Herald liest es sich so, als ob die Frau Wehen bekommen hätte, der Mann schnell noch bei Youtube nachschaut, wie man bei einer Geburt assistiert und während er noch dabei ist, kommt seine Frau "auf allen Vieren" und es geht los.
Marc Stephens said he had to act quickly when his wife Jo went into labour three weeks early, because she had a history of fast births with her previous children.
The 28-year-old Royal Navy engineer did a Google search for "how to deliver a baby", and after viewing a few clips felt ready to help.
Mr Stephens, from Cornwall, UK, said: "I didn't have time to panic. She started complaining of pain. I went on Google and watched some clips.
"The next thing I knew, she was coming through the bedroom door on all-fours."
Im Telegraph erfährt man dann, dass zwischen Clips und der Geburt einige Stunden lagen.
The naval engineer, who already has three children with his wife Jo, also 28, decided to search the internet as she felt some discomfort. Four hours later, when the couple were told that no midwife was available as Jo went into sudden labour, he used his new-found knowledge.
"I spent about half a hour on Google and watched a couple of videos on YouTube. One was a cheesy American video on 'this is how you give birth," he said.
"In reality it didn't actually go into that much detail when she was talking.
"It only lasted a couple of minutes. I remember think that was useful," he joked.
